ABOUT SCHOOL BUS CAP SIGNS
In the United States, all school buses have the words “SCHOOL BUS” located at both the front and rear of the bus. All school buses in A, B, C, and D classes are required to have the word “SCHOOL BUS” in 8″ height Uppercase letters located as high as possible and centered. Depending on local and state laws, school bus signs may be required to have reflectorized backgrounds.
Things to remember
It is always best to temporarily tape your decal in place before the final installation. Your Bus may have a rear emergency exit that might require an EMERGENCY EXIT decal to be placed directly above the exit door or window, this would mean that you would need to plan for at least 3 inches of space below the SCHOOL BUS decal, and above the window or door exit.
Reflective SCHOOL BUS decal tip
Federal law FMVSS 217 requires the outside perimeter around all school bus emergency exits to be outlined in reflective tape at least 1″ in width.
Many States permit the use of reflective “SCHOOL BUS” signs to accomplish this.
